Switalskis’ Clinical Negligence and Child Abuse Compensation teams are triple-winners at the Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards 2017.

At a glitzy award ceremony held on 29 November at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate, Janet Baker was named Clinical Negligence Lawyer of the Year. And the Child Abuse Compensation team, led by David Greenwood, took home two awards: Claimant Lawyer of the Year and Claimant Team of the Year.

These wins follow on from recent achievements at the UK Brain Injury Forum (UKBIF) awards and the Yorkshire Legal Awards. On 13 November, Director Mark Hollinghurst was recognised for his leading serious injury and brain injury practice, winning Lawyer of the Year at the national UKBIF Awards 2017. The Child Abuse Compensation team were the winners in the Dispute Resolution category for the second time at the Yorkshire Legal Awards, previously taking the title in 2014.

Commenting on the teams’ awards success, Managing Director John Durkan said: “These awards highlight Switalskis’ teams’ excellence and commitment to complex and challenging claims, which sets them apart from other high street injury firms. We are extremely proud to be setting the standard nationally in the field of personal injury claims and we look forward to building on the successes of our outstanding teams.”

Head of Clinical Negligence in Sheffield, Janet Baker is highly regarded within the Clinical Negligence field for her tenacity and skill representing clients in complex claims. In the past 12 months, Janet and her team have achieved outstanding outcomes in two high-profile cases, one of which attracted the highest ever damages award in a clinical negligence claim.

Switalskis’ multi-award-winning Child Abuse Compensation team specialises in representing people who have suffered child abuse and neglect, and have acted on behalf of victims in many high profile and group action claims. David Greenwood and the team have been recognised for their work supporting the women who were sexually exploited by gangs in Rotherham and handling the subsequent claims. Their actions helped bring to light the failings by the local authority and police to protect the girls from exploitation.
